With "Life in the Generation Ship", internationally renowned artist Yael Bartana is presenting her newest piece for the first time in Germany as part of the 67th Nordic Film Days Lübeck. The immersive work tackles subjects like utopia, migration, and collective memory – and posits a poetic, political picture of how communities will survive in an uncertain future. In this event, Bartana will talk to Noura Dirani, director of the St Anne’s Museum art gallery, Kunsthalle, about the background of the piece, her research process, and the societal issues that the work tackles. The conversation offers a rare insight into the thought process of an artist whose work, involving the film, performance, and installation arts, sets an international benchmark.
