Ayahuasca – Kosmik Journey

What happens when indigenous healing rituals and immersive technology converge? Inspired by his own experiences with ayahuasca, a plant infusion traditionally used in healing and self-discovery ceremonies by peoples of the Amazon, director Jan Kounen embarks on a spiritual, visual journey. In his 360° film, he attempts to capture the physical and hallucinatory states of such a ceremony on film. In doing so, he explores the possibilities offered by immersive media to simulate altered states of consciousness. Can a film influence our perception of reality? And how close does this experience come to what cannot actually be put into words or images?
