A best friend like Luca – that's the dream of many young people. The 16-year-old has been a star since the day she was born. Actually, she was a star even before then, because her parents are social media influencers. Her everyday family life consists of clips and selfies, podcasts and promotions. Her entire life is documented, everything is carefully curated and planned. And now, an AI chatbot, based on Luca's personality, is about to hit the market as an ever-present, digital friend. But when her parents decide to have another child, Luca's world begins to unravel. She starts to fight her way free and discover who she actually is. Joscha Bongard's debut film takes a satirical look at the late-capitalist economy of attention and likes, and poses the question of what it means for children to be exploited by their parents for popularity, and to grow up in the public eye.
