David spent two years in a youth detention centre. Routine, boredom, bad food, no prospect of change. Now he’s free and wants to make a fresh start. Supervised housing, job interviews, council appointments. David stoically tries to build a new life for himself. His girlfriend Janine has been waiting for him, and his old friends are happy to see him too. But society doesn’t make his second chance easy. He loses his job because his boss doesn’t want people with criminal records on staff. David feels lost and his frustration grows. Money is running out and the temptation to reoffend is growing. With his theatrical debut, Steffen Goldkamp delivers an unconventional, authentic contribution to the gangster film genre. The question of whether and how one can escape old patterns and a criminal past is explored with young amateur actors and calm, low-key camera work.
