In the late 1970s, at the age of 17, Andreas Grützner moved to Hamburg and took a job at the Alsterdorf Institute. The place, as well as the violent treatment of the disabled people it housed, proved overwhelming – but he remained, and experienced a societal change. The late discovery of this family's dark past tiggers a reflection on the time.
