Põrgu / Hell
Retrospektive, Estonia 1983, 18 Min., no dialogue
This animated short is based on three works by renowned Estonian graphic artist Eduard Wiiralt (1898–1954), “Cabaret”, “Preacher”, and “Hell”, all created in the early 1930s in Paris. Set in motion, the images depict a society intoxicated with pleasure, dancing feverishly on the volcano and seemingly making a beeline straight for the gates of hell.
The film is part of the short film programme A New Look at Old Masters.
