Vennad karusüdamed / Brothers Bearhearts
Retrospektive, Estonia 2005, 22 Min., eston. OV, engl. st
The heroes of this short are the three bear cubs from Russian artist Ivan Shishkin’s iconic painting “Morning in a Pine Forest” (1889). After losing their painter mom, the brothers Henry, Vincent, and August end up in Paris, but their impressionist works don’t find favour there … This fascinating puppet animation references paintings by Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh, Rodin, and Malevich.
The film is part of the short film programme No Strings Attached – Short Puppet Animations at KOLK 17.
