Rufus – The Sea Serpent Who Couldn’t Swim

Ruffen – Sjøormen som ikke kunne svømme / Rufus – The Sea Serpent Who Couldn’t Swim

Young Audience, Norway / Belgium / Germany 2025, 82 Min., engl. OV, ger. voice over, 6 years and older

A sea serpent that can’t swim is like a bird that can’t fly. That’s why shy Rufus is an outsider among his own kind. He lives on a secret island protected by Uncle Ludvik, who covers the isle in magic fog whenever humans approach. When Ludvik loses his scarf, meaning his magic powers begin to fade, it falls to non-swimmer Rufus to take a whale taxi across the ocean to Scotland. That’s where Aunt Nessie lives, who can knit a new scarf. But it’s also the home of a mean zoo director, who not only keeps a few sad animals from Africa in captivity, but is also obsessed with the idea of becoming rich by capturing the legendary sea serpent. Rufus has to overcome his fear of water and push himself past his limits. Will he save his homeland together with a hodgepodge troupe of outsiders? Based on the well-known Norwegian children’s book series, "Rufus”,
