Mira
Young Audience, Denmark 2025, 85 Min., dan. OV, engl. st, ger. voice over, 10 years and older
12-year-old Mira enjoys creating small works of art from bits of scrap. She most likes to do it with Naja, who is her best friend – until Beate joins the class. The new girl hosts a popular beauty channel. All the girls are immediately taken with Beate – unfortunately, including Naja. Suddenly, she ignores Mira and is only interested in boys, crushes, and make-up. They even start a love club, but Mira isn't allowed to join because she doesn't know much about that stuff. To get close to Naja again, Mira wants to join the club and tries really hard to fall in love. She figures it can't be that hard, since her mother is always falling in love with someone new. But who might be the right person for Mira? Director Marie Lemkilde's feature film debut is based on the eponymous best-selling Danish book series. With wit and warmth, $Mira” accompanies its heroine as she grows up – torn between the pressure to conform and the desire to remain true to herself.
