Lotte & Totte – My First Friend

Lotte & Totte – Min første ven / Lotte & Totte – My First Friend

Young Audience, Denmark 2025, 62 Min., dan. OV, engl. st, ger. voice over, 4 years and older

Four-year-old Lotte moves to the country with her parents. She misses her friends and the apartment building that used to be her home. Her baby brother screams and cries and is allowed to do all sorts of things that she’s not. If only she could just give him away and move back to the city! But then Lotte meets Totte, who lives next door with his delightful Grandma. Together they bake cakes and go on adventures with Totte’s cat – in the backyard and at the beach. Until one day, a game ends in a fight. Lotte has to find a way to win back her new best friend. For her debut, Mia Fridthjof compiled episodes from a well-known Swedish picture book series to create a cinematic adventure. Her film proves that young children’s feelings and everyday lives are just as suitable for the big screen as dragons, witches, and pirates. Jealousy and loneliness, fear and curiosity, going too far and saying you’re sorry – the youngest audiences go through it all, learning along with Lotte and Totte.
