Viktor lost his hearing at the age of five. He lives with his mother, works in construction, and photographs his daily life. With mesmerizing black-and-white visuals underscored by a tapestry of sound that appears to oscillate between the within and without, the film dives into Viktor's world – beginning exactly one day before Russia attacks his hometown of Kharkiv for the first time. An avid fan of the martial arts of the samurai, weapons, and the military, Viktor would love to be a soldier. But that is an impossibility, due to his deafness. Together with the filmmaker Olivier Sarbil, he ventures to the front to take pictures. Viktor's unique eye for the events makes everyday life in war tangible in an exceptionally oppressive manner. Like a filter, his inner silence permeates the carefully composed images, creating both distance and immediacy. The film, directed by Olivier Sarbil and produced by Darren Aronofsky, is a visual and auditory experience that stays with the viewer for a long time.
